Annabhau's full name is Tukaram Bhaurao Sathe. He is also called Shivshahir because he composed many powadas on Shivaji Maharaj. Along with this, he also wrote a biography on the life of Shivaji Maharaj. Which he later translated into Russian language as well.

Annabhau was born in such a family. Annabhau Sathe was born on 1st
August 1920 in a traditional Mang family in Chotyasha
village of Wategaon in Valwa taluka of Sangli district. Annabhau Sathe could
not complete his schooling due to financial situation. We know him as Shaheer,
the author of Powade Lavani, but apart from Powade, Annabhau has also written
many excellent novels.
Annabhau wrote 21 collections of stories
and more than 26 novels in his literary career so far.
Some of the novels written by Annabhau have also been made into movies. Fakira
is his most famous novel in which he tried to depict the life of Mang society.
The main character of this novel is Fakira, a brave man of Mang society who
robs British rulers during famine and the same looted wealth is stolen food. He
distributes to the poor. His Kandbaris was awarded as the best Marathi novel by
the state government. My journey to Russia is also a travelogue written by
Annabhau Sathe. Annabhau tried to create social awareness through every type of
literature he created. He tried to improve the life of the working people
through all his poems and powadas. Therefore, the world called him a democrat.

Annabhau Sathe has depicted the life of a nomadic caste in the novel Makadachi Mal. Annabhau Sathe's mother's name was Valubai and father's name was Bhaurao. Annabhau Sathe's first wife's name was Kondabai and after her death he married Jayavanta. Annabhau Sathe's son was Madhukar and daughters were Shanta and Shakuntala.
